GCW Udhampur Celebrates National Voters Day-2024

SVEEP Cell of Govt. College for Women, Udhampur celebrated 14th National Voters’ Day-2024 with great zest and zeal under the theme, “Nothing like Voting, I Vote for Sure”, under the able guidance of the principal of the college, Prof. Anali Mahajan on January 25, 2024.
Different programmes and events were organised from 22-01-2024 to 25-01-2024, like Poetry recitation competition, singing competition, motivational speech on NVD, symposium, Voter’s pledge and making NVD logo as Profile Picture etc.
The purpose of organising these activities was to make the students aware about the value of their votes as well as the importance of casting vote for a successful democracy.
The programme began with the welcome address by Prof. Swarna Devi, Nodal Officer, SVEEP. She motivated the students for casting their vote in the coming elections in the state through her speech on the topic, “Nothing Like Vote, I Vote for Sure”. She advised the students to prefer the national issues and developmental goals than caste, religion, language, region or any other narrow basis for casting their valuable votes.
Prof. Anjali Mahajan, Principal of the college, in her speech, congratulated the students for their active participation and appreciated the efforts of the SVEEP Nodal Officer and members for organising the wonderful awareness-programme. She exhorted upon the importance of realising the fact that how even a single vote matters for a candidate to win. She advised the students that if they want the government of their choice, they have to cast vote in any situation and not only they should cast vote themselves but to compel their family members and relatives to cast vote for the nation. She hoped that such inspiring events and activities will be organised in coming future as well.
Almost 100 students participated in various activities and events conducted in the college for four days. In addition to participate at college level activities, students also took part in Singing National Anthem, Poetry Recitation, voters’ song and symposium at DC Office, Udhampur on the occasion of celebrating 14th National Voters’ Day and received appreciation certificates for their active participation and positive contribution in celebrating the day.
The whole programme was organised by the Convener of SVEEP Cell, Prof. Swarna Devi and co-members of the committee Dr. Swati Dutt and Dr. Om Parkash. Dr. Indu Khajuria, HOD Chemistry, Prof. Prof. Shama Rani. NSS PO, Dr. Indu Khajuria HOD Chemistry, Dr. Monika Gupta, Department Chemistry, Prof. Pooja Bharti, HOD Geography also contributed in the celebrations of the NVD-2024.
