Patriotic Song Competition Under AKAM Held

As a part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, an intra-colligate solo singing competition based on patriotism was organized by Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Committee in collaboration with Department of Music Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur on August 09, 2023.
Principal of the host college, Prof. Anjali Mahajan was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Prof. Anjali Mahajan highlighted the cause behind celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. She said that Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav shall be a Jan Mahotsav to bring the contribution of every section of society to the fore.
Prof. Anjali informed that the Government College for Women Udhampur is organizing fortnightly special events to mark the celebrations under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' and Meri Matti Mera Desh in the college campus and pay tribute to the heroes of Indian freedom struggle.
As many as 10 students of the college participated in the competition and sung very beautiful patriotic song to paid tribute to the freedom fighter of India.
Mousami of Semester 3rd was adjudged best singer in the singing competition while Sonia Verma of Sem 5th and Neeta Devi of Sem 5th bagged second and third positions respectively. Besides Manvi Chanyal of Sem 5th and Luxmi Devi of Sem 5th were awarded with consolation prizes in the contest.
Later, chief guest also distributed certificates and momentoes among the participants of competition.
Earlier, Convenor AKAM Dr. Sanjeet Kour gave brief resume of the activities being carried out by the college time to time especially celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Meri Matti Mera Desh.
During the contest, Prof. Shamma Rani and Dr. Sanjay Kumar were acted as judges. The proceedings of the event was conducted by Ms. Swati Gandotra of Semester 5th and Prof. Rajinder Singh Presented the formal vote of thanks
Among others, HOD Music, Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Kewal Kumar, Dr. Amit Kumar, Prof. Rajinder Singh, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof. Pooja Bharti, Prof. Yash Kumar, other senior faculty members, staff members and large number of the students were also attended the programme.
