Govt. College for Women Udhampur has organized two days international conference on the theme "Science for Survival: To Explore the Unexplored Dimensions"
IQAC in collaboration with Department of Botany of Govt. College for Women Udhampur has organized two days international conference on the theme "Science for Survival: To Explore the Unexplored Dimensions" in blended mode w.e.f Feb 10-11, 2023. The conference has been organized against the background to bring together a vast network of leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars who discuss and disseminate research findings, breakthroughs, novel insights and the emerging and recent trends in sciences and its allied fields. Besides the exchange of information, the present conference will act as a social platform where researchers can expand their networks and initiate discussions with their peers. It also provides an interdisciplinary platform for policy makers, researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in various fields of Science. Further, it lends perspectives to old problems and new insights into the nature of our world and the animals and plants that inhabit it allow us to design novel solutions that improve our lives. These solutions might improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, they might help further our clean energy capacity and tackle climate change, and they might address the global hunger crisis or make our world safer.
The Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department JKUTSh. Alok Kumar (IRS) was the chief guest of the event who joined the conference through virtual mode. Director colleges of Higher Education Department, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai was the guest of honor and she also joined through virtual mode. The special guests of the event were Dr. Udhay Bhanu, principal GDC Ramnagar, Sh. Ghansham Additional DC Udhampur and Additional SP Sh. Anwar-Ul-Haq. Principals of various government colleges of Jammu division also graced the occasion with their presence.
Key note speaker Dr. OP Vidyarthi (Retd. IFS), former principal chief conservator, Forest department, UT of J&K deliberated on the theme of the conference with the presentation entitled “Decade of Ecosystem Restoration: Challenges of Solution. Besides resource persons from different parts of globe namely Dr. Lamiaa F. Shalabi (Egypt), Dr. Hans-Joachim Rudolph (Germany), Dr Mukesh Gautam (New York), Dr. Tapsi M. Dayanand (Boston MA), Dr. SK Badyal (University of Jammu), Dr. Sanju Bala Dhull (Haryana), Dr. Rajesh Kumar (HP), Dr. Kishore Kumar Thapa (West Bengal), Dr. Naresh Butani (Gujrat), Dr. DA Dhale (Maharashtra), Dr. Surinder K Sharawat (Delhi), Dr. Deepak Arya (Uttrakhand) etc. enlightened the audience with their mindstorming lectures. About 300 participants including faculty, research scholar and students attended the conference through online as well as offline mode.
An exhibition was also planned in the conference where Department of information and public relations has a stall of photo exhibition, Students of the college exhibited the traditional heritage in the exhibition, UMEED NGO also has the stall of local products and handicrafts. Research oriented posters were presented by the students in the exhibition and a special innovation is also shown by the students and alumni of the college.
